  • Crazy VoIP Idea...

So I'm looking to try and setup a next to free home phone system in the future... Is it even possible to find software that'll communicate with Google Voice, which would than transfer data between a dial-up 56k modem to a corded or cordless landline phone? I'm pretty new to the VoIP world...
    Thanks,
    Eric

I don't know any way to use a modem to connect and use an old analog phone, however there are great voip adapters to do just that. They run around $30. You can run a voip server to connect your Google voice account to it and then register your voip adapter to your server. Asterisk with FreePBX has the Google Voice settings to do that. I have a tutorial on setting this up this configuration at http://phillippowers.com/projects/index.php?inc=pbx
