    Default How to Prevent Fraud

There are some simple ways to try and prevent fraud although in this industry nothing is foll proof.

    1) Check Customers Trade References ( no personal references)

    2) Get customers Federal Tax ID and verify it is active

    3) Check Bank References, make certain customer maintains enough balance in checking/savings account to cover credit limit.

    4) Ask customer for Credit Card to keep on file against credit limit

    5) Whenever possible only accept Prepay or EMS Escrow

    6) Usually your first instincts are right, try and get to know customer before issuing credit and get a feeling of his or her personality.

Fraud unfortunately seems to be big problem in every industry not just VOIP in general. In my experience I have found that monitoring of traffic and preset balances with our customers has been the most effective way of not getting burned. There have been quite a lot of good advice in this thread hopes it continues.
