Default VOIP dial tone on old hardware but no calls go out?

I had a VOIP router at home that I was't using. It was from an old VOIP account that I had. I don't have that account now. Its been several months. I was curoius and connecterd it to my wireless router the other day. I actually got a dial tone, but none of my calls go through. I get either no ring or fast busy. Is this what should happen if there's no VOIP account or can I actually configure this somehow to work.

What kind of router do you have?

Default Linksys for both.

I have a Linksys wireless router 4-port 2.4, model WRT54G. The VOIP box is also Linksys says "Phone Adapter w/ Router". Model #SPA2102-R.

I have a pc. Interesting that this account could still be active. Do you know how or where I can go on the web to try and get this to work?

Thanks.

Ivan
